PFD Electric was founded in 2008 by Bob Pohlmeyer and John Wertin, but the story started long before the company had a name.
Built on decades of industrial and commercial electrical experience, PFD grew from two craftsmen with deep trade knowledge into a team known for precision, reliability, and pride in the work.
Our motto says it all: Show Up. Give a F*ck. File Your Strut. It is not just a tagline. It is the standard we expect in the field, in the office, and in every job that carries our name.

1975-1988
The Early Years
Bob graduated from Lynn Vocational Technical Institute in Massachusetts before completing his electrical apprenticeship and earning both his Journeyman’s and Master Electrician licenses.

He went on to spend seven years at General Electric’s River Works Steam Turbine and Aircraft manufacturing facility, servicing electrical distribution and control systems, large machine tools, radio-controlled overhead cranes, and industrial motor control applications.
​
In 1988, Bob relocated to Phoenix, Arizona, where he continued working alongside some of the largest industrial and commercial electrical contractors in the Valley.
​
Those years built the technical foundation, industrial experience, and workmanship standards that would later shape PFD Electric into what it is today.
1988–2008
Building The Partnership
John Wertin began his career in the electrical trade through the Arizona Builders Alliance apprenticeship program, earning his Journeyman’s license while building hands-on field experience across industrial and commercial projects throughout Arizona.

In 1997, Bob and John began working together for the same Phoenix-based contractor. Their shared work ethic, field experience, and commitment to doing things the right way quickly built the foundation for a long-term professional partnership.
​
Over the next decade, the two continued developing their expertise in industrial systems, commercial electrical construction, troubleshooting, controls, and large-scale facility work across the Valley.
2008 - Present
The Standard We Carry
After more than 11 years of working together, Bob and John officially founded PFD Electric in 2008. What started as a two-man operation has grown into a trusted industrial and commercial electrical contractor supporting operations across Arizona.

Today, PFD Electric serves manufacturers, hospitality groups, industrial facilities, processing plants, and commercial operations throughout the Valley with a focus on reliability, responsiveness, and long-term relationships.

But beyond the projects themselves, Bob and John have remained committed to mentoring and developing the next generation of electricians, passing down the workmanship, professionalism, and trade standards that built the company from the beginning.
While the company has grown, the standard has remained the same: show up, communicate clearly, take pride in the work, and do the job right.
